Audio Filter Dynamic EQ

Dynamic EQ / Envelope Filter. An envelope follower detects the input signal's amplitude and uses it to modulate a filter's frequency (auto-wah) or gain (dynamic EQ / de-esser).

Settings

bypass

Bypasses the module processing when activated (ON).

  • OFF (0): Module processes normally
  • ON (1): Input passes directly to output without processing

in

Audio input flow(s).

out

Audio output flow(s).

frequency

Base filter frequency in Hz. In freq mode, this is the center frequency that the envelope sweeps from. In gain mode, this is the fixed frequency of the EQ band.

Q

Filter Q / resonance, from 0.1 to 20. Higher values create a narrower, more resonant filter peak.

depth

Modulation depth, from -1 to +1. In freq mode, controls the sweep range (up to +/- 4 octaves). In gain mode, controls the gain range (up to +/- 24 dB). Negative values invert the envelope response.

attack

Envelope follower attack time in ms, from 0.1 to 500. Controls how fast the filter responds to increasing signal level. Short values for percussive response, longer for smoother tracking.

release

Envelope follower release time in ms, from 1 to 2000. Controls how fast the filter returns when the signal level decreases.

mode

Modulation mode:

  • freq: the envelope sweeps the filter frequency (auto-wah, funk guitar, envelope filter)
  • gain: the envelope controls the filter gain (dynamic EQ, frequency-selective compression, de-essing)

filter

Filter type:

  • band pass: isolates a frequency band, useful for auto-wah effects
  • peaking: boosts or cuts a frequency band while passing the rest, useful for dynamic EQ
