Audio Disto Rectifier

Audio rectifier module. Converts audio signals using different rectification modes, producing octave-up effects and unique timbres.

Rectification is borrowed from electronics where diodes convert AC to DC. Applied to audio, full-wave rectification doubles the fundamental frequency (octave up), while half-wave rectification produces a mix of the fundamental and upper harmonics with a strong DC component.

Settings

bypass

Bypasses the module processing when activated (ON).

  • OFF (0): Module processes normally
  • ON (1): Input passes directly to output without processing

in

Audio input flow(s).

out

Audio output flow(s).

type

Selects the rectification mode:

  • half wave — zeroes out the negative half of the waveform. Produces a mix of fundamental, second harmonic and higher harmonics.
  • full wave — takes the absolute value of the signal. Effectively doubles the frequency, producing an octave-up effect.
  • precision half — soft-knee half-wave rectification with a smooth transition around zero crossing. Produces a gentler version of half-wave with fewer transient artifacts.

smoothing

Low-pass smoothing applied after rectification. At 0 the full rectified signal passes through; higher values smooth out the sharp edges for a softer, less aggressive effect.
