Bitwise Counter

Configurable 32-bit counter working on bitwise (hexadecimal) values. It counts up or down by a specified increment, with several modes that control what happens when the count reaches the min or max boundary. It behaves like the Data Counter but keeps its value as an exact unsigned 32-bit word.

Bitwise flows are not directly compatible with data flows. You must use integer-to-bitwise to set bitwise inlets and bitwise-to-integer to retrieve outlet values. Bitwise inputs are in hexadecimal format (0123456789ABCDEF). ie. $FA234B, $FFFF, etc. Bitwise flows are compatible with Color flows.

Settings

value

Current value of the counter (bitwise / hexadecimal).

increment

Increases the counter by the increment value.

decrement

Decreases the counter by the increment value.

reset to min

Resets the counter to its min value.

reset to max

Resets the counter to its max value.

min

Lowest value of the counter (bitwise / hexadecimal). Default $00000000.

max

Highest value of the counter (bitwise / hexadecimal). Default $FFFFFFFF.

increment value

Size of each increment or decrement step (bitwise / hexadecimal). Default $00000001.

count mode

Determines what happens when the counter reaches a boundary.

  • loop: wraps from max back to min (or min to max on decrement), restarting the cycle.
  • wrap: increments using modulo arithmetic.
  • bounce: reverses direction at each boundary (counts up then down, then up again).
  • ceiling: stops at max on increment or at min on decrement.
  • unlimited: counts indefinitely with no boundaries (min and max are ignored).

Example

With min = $00000000, max = $00000003, increment value = $00000001 and count mode = loop, repeatedly triggering increment produces:

$00000000 -> $00000001 -> $00000002 -> $00000003 -> $00000000 -> ...

The value wraps from max back to min. In ceiling mode it would instead stop at $00000003.

unique ID

Current private ID for this control used to identify the object.

preset ID

Current private preset ID for this control used for presets.

recreate ID

If you experience difficulties in Polyphonic mode, try to recreate new id(s) with this button.

repair ID s

Each Patch shared on the local network uses its own ID (identification number). If you experience issues of Patches that don't send information to the good target, this button will rebuild all these id's.
