Hello Usine Community,

Just got a tablet pc running Ableton and Usine. I've gotten so far as to relize I need LoopBE(nerds.de) to communicate between the two programs. I have Usine running as a VST in an Ableton MIDI track but I have no clue how to trigger MIDI in Ableton using Usine as a touch screen interface(similar to a lemur)

Can someone walk me through the process of setting up a patch and routing the MIDI in and out between the two programs?

I also want to incorporate the 3x space faders for usine by 23fx23 to control effects in ableton. These little guys look sick!

Thanks!

-John

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not trying to control a VST with Usine but more so the MIDI triggers of audio tracks. Should I use the stand alone version instead of the VST?

Are there any templates available for this?

yes , it would be better to use the standalone version in this case
just create midi button and fader like in my example
then choose loopbe1 as midi out in Usine
loopbe1 as midi in ( and only midi in ) in Live
then you just have to made midi learn on each elements in Live..?
there is no template sorry..

Your example shows how to create a fader, but not a button?

hi johnadx, it's very simple to create a midi button. take a button in interfacedesign, a createmidi in midi and link as above.

then you can set the midi channel , type of mess(cc/note ect..), CC/note nb (code1), CC/note Value (code2) directly on create midi message module.

it's always the same way
here an example :

here it's a switch , but you can do the same for a button ,
And i use control change but you can also use midi note and so..

once you have done one , save it as sub-patch and copy paste...

Any chance one of you guys could send me a file with this already done? I'm still having trouble. When I drag the code1 or create from the MIDI in I don't see an option for button/switch/has change or any of that.:/

on your items (swich, button ect) there is a "where option", can set IB for example for your items to be visible when in Ib fullscreen mode.

This is starting to look like it's not going to be the right program for me. I've followed all these instructions and it just shows up as a grey rectangle the says Midi.

Thanks for the help

I understand every project requires a lot of work, but I have no idea as to what I am doing here.

I have a basic midi layout in Usine. Button-Create Midi-Midi Out. When i try to map midi in ableton it is not finding anything? I have configured Usine out to Internal Midi one and Ableton Midi in to Internal 1. I have no idea why this isn't working.

ok,
what you can do is to activate the trace option in the midi out setup of Usine
and check the console ( black window on the top of Usine ) to check if midi message is really going out
if it's ok , check also the yellow led on the up right of Live to see if midi message are really entering..
tell me..

I did not see any message in the black area of the screen when i hit Trace out.

Could this be a problem with my internal MIDI?

I am using Loopbe3 on vista 64 bit

If so can you recomment any other 3rd party programs? I can't use Midi Yoke Unfortunately Im assuming because Im on a 64 bit computer. Everytime I run the download it says it was interupted. I even disable UAC settings, still did not work.

I think the problem was with loopbe30. Waste of $20 now. I actually managed to get MidiYoke working after properly turning off my UAC.

really strange !
are you sure you are on a 64 bits OS ..? :D
( edit : but i saw with google that you're not the only one..)

but the most important is that you succeed to do a first approach..?

loopbe30 works fine for me on 64 bit windows 7, and has worked fine on XP 64. It should work on vista too...
