Creating patches with front & back panels (how can I change a modular wire opacity?)

I am trying to create patches that represent a device that has both a front facing and back facing panel, similar to Reason's Rack, that can be flipped around and you can reroute signals with cables.
I toggle front/back switching pressing Z on the keyboard.

When I hide both modular inputs, the wire remains, and there is no reference that I can see to change that wire's opacity, except in the setup modular settings, but I am unsure how to access this variable.

How can I fix this, or is there a better way to implement this?

Also I notice when I open the workspace fresh, there is a visual glitch?? pressing Z fixes it.

There's a module named setup settings where you can link your switch to the inlet wire opacity
