I am working on updating some templates.
I am trying to rename the captions based on the dropped patch name DROP_SHORT_FILENAME, however I want to concatenate the strings "in" and "out as appropriate to the DROP_SHORT_FILENAME.
Anyone know the correct method for combining strings into one by variable?

Thanks Nay,
This functionality I am really looking forward to. I am trying to build some efficient templates I hope to share along with.
One of the main reasons is the creation of an input and output array for each plugin created as well as parameter names.
By these means, I am trying to build a standard interface to allow parameter takeover for those plugins that don't respond to MIDI Learn.
I think if I can get this implemented solid then I believe this will allow quick and creative interfacing without having to dig into patches for each plugin and create a ton of variations for different interfaces wanting to be used.

unfortunately it's not possible with the actual IML.
the IML has a very basic syntax and you can't, for example call
SET_VAR MYVAR "out"+DROP_SHORT_FILENAME
it could be a good suggestion, I'll try to find time to implement it.
like
SET_VAR varname arg1 arg2 arg3
that will concat arg1,arg2, etc.

will be implemented in HH2
SET_VAR varname arg1 arg2
will set varname := arg1+arg2
concatenation, but only for strings variables

Thank you senso,
That will make a lot of difference in being able to specifically identify captions without unintentional looping.
