Triggering Keyboard - Keypresses

I had seen the key interface for detecting keys, however I was wondering if there was a way to trigger a key.
I am looking to be able to create a button to execute the delete key for touch-screen only applications with no keyboard, or hold shift down so I can drag a sequence line like array-shift.

Any Ideas?

I'm not a specialist, but the shell command module can run program with options...?
