I would like to record vst automation by moving the controls on the VST for x amount of bars and then have the automation play back to the VST, in sync to bars.
Now that VST's have array out it seems like it should be possible, but is there any way to record the changing values of the array outlets and play them back synchronized?
I'm thinking a nice little "record VST automation" module with an array inlet but I somehow doubt it will be that easy...?
record "vst automation"

to my mind this is fairly possible now, but not easy,... im interested too so i could help in search.
i ve just recentlt posted an "unpack" array patch in other thread, that detects values that changed in an array , and output index and value, could be useful for this one... this is for one way, but raise a complex question:
unpack Array
the pb i see is VSt params can be a huge list let's say 128, I feel it wound'nt be trivial for ram/cpu load to have 128 "ready"
lines modules, i guess we have to limit the system to max 8 or 16 lines to be efficient, and dinamycally assign to a new line
for ech new automation wich need a bit brainstorm on how to.. probably iml auto wiring to line and back to Vst param in, or setting back coreponding array elmt and feed back the whole array of params back to vst.
there could be another lighter solution using pianoroll, im not an expert in this but i suppose pianoroll can rec a cc from midi in?
if so need to find a way to recreate corresponding midi cc on output of vst when a param change, for vst that don't natively do that,
but i feel it would need to know the cc mapping of the vst, wich im not sure we can get.. but if Vst are controlled by midi pots,
could also rec/replay directly the midi in CC, instead of tracking vst changes, much simpler.
so im more first on exploring solution one for now, that could work even with mouse or usine faders.
ie a simpler process i feel would be:
there are 8 ready synchronized lines modules buffers. when cliquing on a line module then moving a vst pot, iml either create a wire from the param to line and from line to param, or get array element from Vst array out, and set array element back to array in.
(seems maybe better to take advantage of new arrays).. i will try to investigate that way and report if find something...
i just tought about another solution: using sampler! as audio is a 128 size array when block size is 128, could
directly rec the all vst parameters in one shot, and replay back. would be limited for editing automations then, but
an easy way...
