How can i get usine to show a VST or VSTi when a patch is activated and hide the vst when the patch is turned off ?

I can control the "patch active" module with a switch and the "show VST" with a separate button.

How could i control both the patch active module and show pin of the VSts with just one switch ?
Is there a way to modify a switch so that it acts like a button ?
I tried using "event controls" but i didn't succeed.

Thanks.

Here's a solution using a single switch:

Switch -> Wait One -> Wait One -> Patch Active
Switch -> Has Changed -> Show Vst

There's one thing that can't be made 100% though. That is if you close the VST's GUI while the patch is on, it will pop up when you turn the patch off, and vice versa. I'm not sure I understand what's happening here, but the opposite works ok: Open the GUI while the patch is off and it will follow the status of the switch.

not easy at first reflexion, cause patch must be active to use the show on/off and this in both case..
so you have to look for an :
1_ "active on" then "show on"
2_ show off then active off

it's just an abstract idea , i don't have test it....

edit = ok , bsork is nearest...;-)

The patch (or for that matter the audio engine) doesn't have to be on to open or close the GUI. If you double-click the VST "module" it will open, or if you select it and click the Show Vst button it's turned on or off as it should. As long as there is no status field of some sort, I really can't see how it's possible to make sure that the GUI is open or not.

Do I remember correctly when I think that Show Vst used to be a switch that showed the actual status in some earlier versions?

Wow thanks guys, it works great !

Now if only the position of the VST window was saved with the workspace, it would be absolutely perfect !

Can someone post a screenshot of this routing? I'm still not wrapping my head around some of these concepts. :-)

Thx for the reply!

I think there may be a problem with interaction with a PM because as soon as I add the Patch Active module the PM stops responding to the midi input from my footswitch. :-)

hello,
don't know how you use your preset manager and what you want to do do with , but if your patch is "no active " nothing could work...
so maybe better think for an an other way to do this..?
( maybe i don't understand all...? )

thanks for the insights :)

wonder if any1 tried how far this can be taken? i guess the plugin still occupies RAM but (almost) no cpu anymore? and of course the bypass modules (data buses, switches) require some cpu.
say, i'd want to have a plugin rack with hundreds of plugins ready for processing (only 8 active at the same time). i'd imagine it should be possible to get quite far with small plugins (small RAM usage)?

any experiences?

@Amiga909 : bypass method is the best solution for you
this will don't cost anything about cpu

btw , rack is limited to 16 slots...

Sorry for not explaining better!

I use a midi footswitch to control a PM which changes presets in either Amplitube 2 or Guitar Rig. Sometimes I use a patch that uses both combined. I would just like the active VST to bring it's UI to the front for viewing and/or editing more easily.

Thx!

no problem..
just an idea : try to use a preset manager for each vst and the Conductor (ctrl F7)( via midi ) to control the global presets
maybe this type of patch can help you too :
