I'm experimenting with Midi Matrix module as a gate sequencer filtering main algorithmic sequencer (for that I'm using VST hyperion from xoxos) by splitting VST midi out to multiple voices and assigning them to matrix input. And everything was coming together nicely until I've tried to expand it to 16 steps (16 inputs). I've used some patching tricks to make active cells light up with colour when midi voice is coming through, but for some reason, there's only 8 cells (both On and Off) to colour within matrix settings and so inputs 9-16 mirror the settings of 1-8 and that's no good for me.

I thing it's a bug, or more like a mistake. If that's the case please fix it, otherwise please add remaining cell colours, I've tried to make a workaround (see a stripe going through first row on screenshot), but it's a nightmare to set up, when I need to dynamically increase or decrease number of steps (inputs) and everything stretches to fit.

Also, it could prove useful to add 32x16 midi matrix. I understand why 16 is a limit for outputs, but voices can multiply inputs.

For now I've settled with a workaround, lighting up led stripes under semi-transparent matrix. Just used selector that adjusts the height of matrix according to selected number of steps/inputs, so the stripes are always aligned with rows.
