I would find very usefull :
-to be able to copy/paste preset from the conductor,
-to be able to navigate through the presets in a non linear way, like having a view of the whole bank (like an enourmous preset manager), with a direct, fast access.
-to have another kind of insert function which would work like append function.
For example you select a preset, you change some parameters, and trigger a function that would creates a new preset on a new line under the original one.

For me the insert mode right now is not very handy, as you have to create an insert first...and sometimes you don't premeditate the creation of new presets.
I know i can still do an append function and move it to the right place but when working with a lot of presets, it becomes a lot of work!

Some way of synchronizing recalls of values by the preset manager and the conductor. Either the conductor stores everything like the PM (but that would be a lot of data though), or the conductor is only storing the PM's preset number. I prefer the second solution.

Bsork, It would be nice to have both options , but sure that the second solution is more reliable.

And i change my mind about this :

Instead of a "enourmous preset manager" it would be enough to be able to scroll through the conductor (without selecting a preset).

I'm not sure I understand your needs, since we can already copy/past presets. Of course not directly but a combination of select line, append/move/delete can do the job?

With the /interface modules/usine panels/Conductor you can create you own patch which manage presets as you want. Personally that's what I do.

Yes we can imagine infinite improvements like that "insert after" "insert before", etc. but I'm not sure I want to turn the conductor into a complex machine, hard to manipulate. Try to keep things simple even if in your case it's (many lines) it's not adapted?

Yes a way to store preset number in the conductor is a good intermediate and could be under the users own risk.
The main problem is to have the fastest recall as possible in order to avoid audio clicks during the recall. As usine is a live tool we have to take care about it.

I am pretty sure you got my point but just to be sure

For me the very bad point of the conductor is the insert mode which is not logical and confused me a lot.
Imagine you are on a preset, you play with the parameters and you want to create a new preset that should follow the original one.

I see the insert and i think "great" that seems to be exactly what I need. I check on the wiki section to be sure :
Insert = Inserts and stores a new line above the selected

Perfect, I make an insert and..oh bad surprise...it overwrites the original preset (by the way is it normal? ) and creates a new empty line (but you don't even notice it, as when you select it, it sounds like the previous selection), and does not store itself. Then you have to overwrite to store your preset.

So if you want to do it without loosing your work you have to append, then select the line under the one you want to insert, then insert a new line and move the preset to the right place which is ok but not very friendly (4 clicks minimum instead of one), especially when you have a lot of presets.

So replacing the insert working like append, -and adding possibly a function to create a new empty line, (like "new") - would be for me definitly more friendly and more logical and not at all a "fancy" option.

As you say I can make a patch, what I did, but just a little scroll... do you think it would be too heavy to implement?
I would save a track then if I wouldn't have to add this patch in my workspace...but this not so important as the insert..
