Hello,
We have more and more new instrumentalist using Usine for their performance
and sometimes looking for a good advice about hardware, so i start this post series with Midi Foot controllers

Of course i know there are many different uses, but maybe some of experienced users here have some good foot controller to recommend to others ?
we can precise some criteria like weight, usb or external power, stability on the floor, easy to configure, switches noise and so

Thanks

Keith McMillan sofstep 2. I got a b-stock one for peanuts and it's great! I wish the pads were bigger, it's smaller and lighter than it seems in the pictures etc. I've hardly scratched the surface with what it can do so far but the hardware and the software seems to work solidly from what I've done with it.

The same goes for me : Softstep 2!

There are nice things that you can do (long click, double click), and you're able to control the lights from Usine. I've done a looper sending back its state to the softstep : green light : playing, red lighting : recording, and one pad to control everything as each pad is able to send up to 6 messages!

You can get behringer FCB1010's dirt cheap used, and they are built like tanks. But beware, you can only use one switch pedal at a time. I set up a pedal for sustain, and when I was sustaining, I couldn't tap tempo.

The volume pedals don't have a lot of throw, but it's a lot of control for the $$.

2 softsteps. Is there anything else that comes close?

If you mean close in size, the Rolls MP128 is a good pedal board. A friend of mine has one, it's sturdy, cheap if you buy a used one. But no usb, no led feedback.

I use a roland FC300, nice unit but expensive. I also have a softstep I bought 1 year ago, but haven't used it yet :|

I'm old school. I use the Roland FC-300, the '57 Chevy of foot controllers.

Highly programmable, extremely sturdy/durable. You could beat a Transformer to death with it & use it at a gig that night.

No pressure sensitivity.
