you could have a go with few instances of the grain sampler + some enveloppes ?

thanks for the answer. will look into this as i become a little more familiar with the territory. just hadn't come across much in this realm. pitch is handled extremely well, but i can't seem to find anything for time-stretching., and freezing
guess i need to read the manual

In the library/audio fx/freez/ you can also find some freez patch like the "Freez hold sound "
with a small value, around 100 ms, it can give good result depending of the source
add the reverb patch to finalize

When you drag your sample, choose grain sampler and set the speed to a really slow value, will do the job !

perfect !! sounds great. the freez effect is interesting, and might get me there, but i need a little more practise with it (things are pretty garbled at the moment)
will give it some more time over the coming days
