Hi geeks
It's getting harder and harder to run Usine on my light eeePC 1215N, even with all the suggested system optimizations I often reach the CPU limit...
I'm planning to buy a new laptop PC, I found this :

Intel® Core™ i7 3630QM 2.40 GHz ~ 3.40 GHz
DDR3 1600 MHz SDRAM, 4Mo (can be extended to 16Mo)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M 2 Go GDDR5 VRAM
750 Go 7200 tpm

880€ reconditionned

What do you think ? It's far far better than my eeePC but isn't it "too much" ? (it is sold as a gamer laptop)
Do you run a cheaper config without any problem ?

Thanks

my opinion for music - if you are using lot of realtime processing it is never too much :) at least that laptop will serve you for longer time without need of updating it. i'm running similar configuration and sometimes i can reach 80% of CPU in usine in my most complex workspaces. but my notebook is used as worksation ... premiere/3d modeling/programming/anything.../gaming..... My main reason was not power of that machine, but that it has firewire (i am using firewire soundcard) the power - and by that the time that notebok will be able do all the tasks i n need for longer time was secondary reason.

My laptop is pretty much the same configuration and it's great! I'd say quicker is better if you can afford it. I have managed to push it to max cpu at times, but I find workflow will expand to use up what's available fairly quickly....

OK, thanks for your feedback, I'll go for this kind of config
