I bought usine pro a while back but have not really used it. Mostly my midi based work has been generated in Matlab, but looking at the scripting in Usine I wonder if I can replace Matlab and start building within Usine. For example this piece http://www.greg-hooper.com/sounds/unselected_2.mp3 takes the pitch sequence from one of Satie's Gymnopedies and maps that to the dynamics of a field recording of rain falling onto objects placed in a swimming pool. Pretty easy to write in Matlab (and using Reaper), but it would be great if I could do something like that in Usine as I am also interested in making a range of interactive generative standalones and it looks like the new Usine would suit that a treat.
Possible? efficient?

normally Usine should do the trick.
The main pb will be to, eventually, read external numerical values from files, but you'll find several examples.
The scripting language in Usine is less macroscopic than Matlab but very fast.

thanks - my first look at the scripting language was positive. Just to clarify - can I read in multiple midi and audio files, analyse them, then build new files as a result of that analysis.
At the moment I do that offline, but online is what i have in mind for the future
