Guitar midi
hello, mondombe
I've saw your comment on youtube about my video and fcb1010..
don't hesitate to ask if you need help..
( maybe better in Patching questions topics..)

Actually your video was what first made me checkout Usine
Version 5.x adds lots of cool functionality, so I'm thinking about buying. I'll use it as a (complex) virtual pedalboard for my electric mandolin in the rock band I play in (lot of experimental sounds going on).

great !
happy to see that you like this video .
I've talk by e-mail with mondombe and maybe it's time to make a foot controller patch with v5..

Hello,
I'm interested in your work too. I have a Roland FC-300 (close to the 1010 configuration) that sends midi PC to Usine. I've tried to program the FC-300 in order to use its screen and pedals leds but I've given up, I'm not sure it's possible at all.

I've check up quickly the manual of the fc-300 and he send classic midi message , so there is no reason to not find a way..?
I suppose you've tried to use the SysEx mode? I too have an FC300 and I took a look at the SysEx, and I guess it should be possible to integrate the pedal totally with Usine using SysEx messages, but it's really too much effort...La Tenaille wrote:Hello,

ho, sysex..yes, i admit...
sysex are headache ...do you really need them to use your fc300..?

No, but if you want to have update LEDs (and texts?) bidirectionally between the pedal and Usine, you must. At least as far as I've have understood....
Personally, I've created two kinds of setups in FC: one for use without Usine using the "patch" mode, and another using the CC mode with Usine. In Usine I've created a quite large patch with routing of the various CCs via busses and visual feedback with text and colours to show what each control is assigned to in the current conductor/preset and how they are behaving. (The switches can act as triggers, and latching or non-latching switches, while the pedals also can send "inverted" signals.)
Haven't been doing anything with it for a long time though, so I will do a remake in V5 when I get the time.

Hi,
Headake is the exact word of what I get when I dive in the FC-300 manual. In fact nothing is clearly explained in it, and I'm not equipped for maths, so sysex...
I would be interested in having a look to your patch bsork if you update it for usine v5, mine is empirical and quite unpredictable !
I've made something close to your approach, PC sent are converted to my needs inside Usine, with a (simple) visual feedback on the screen.
... and have you found a way to start the FC right in the good mode ? It seems we have to change mode each time we plug it ?

When I get the time to redo the patch in V5, I'll make an add-on. Don't know when that will be, though... Guess I will redo the whole thing except (most of the UI parts), then I can make the thing simpler to create an add-on from. As it is, it's designed very much around controlling my rack, so much of it isn't very interesting to others. Except as an example, maybe.
I'm pretty sure that the FC always defaults to the same mode on power-up (can't remember which...).
I also agree that the manual could be better. In my opinion, it's a typical example of copy'n'paste documentation, where too much stuff is repeated over and over again and the relevant info is hidden between all the repetions. It's been quite a while since I looked at it, but as I remember, the SysEx parts are quite detailed, but only up to a point. Maybe there's some other documentation available, that explains the more mathematical bits like check sums etc - I don't know.
