Whenever I move tracks in IB and lock them down, go to Grid mode, then go back to IB, they always return to their normal positions, as if I had pressed "reorganize controls."
Is this a "bug" or does the user not have complete control over placement?

can't reproduce this....
can you try to make a new empty workspace , use ready made patchs from the usine tab of the browser , move them in the IB and see if it's the same..?
btw , this kind of problems must be in the patching question , please

it's probably because you have activated the "automatic re-organize" option in IB layout?

This worked. I guess the patches won't behave unless they are saved. Thanks guys.

yes i took me time to understand that lol, as well when playing with visibility setting invisible then back visible items wouldn't be in correct position, need to position them and save/reload the wksp.
