Hi every body , well I'm an old user and a newbie too so I have a lot of lacks in the use of usine
I begin to discover the sequencer mode and the use of the piano roll . I read in the manual
that it is possible to enter music notes in the piano roll directly from the midi keyboard (piano)
very fine but how to do that ? I tried but do not reach to do that
another thing I do not understand what is the principle of "keylearn"
well I think it's enough for a first post
If somebody could help me it would be very fine
excuse me for the mistakes in words or grammary
wish you a good evening may be night too
regards

Keylearn means you can use your pc keyboard, as midi learn for your midi gear.

In the piano roll, you can record directly your sequence...is this more clear?

hi waolelaid,

You have to provide the piano roll with the midi signal of your midi keyboard through the midi input module, assuming your midi keyboard is identified in the 'midi in' tab of the 'setup' menu' and you know on what midi channel the piano emit, something like that :

after that, you just have to push on the rec switch to begin to rec your piano session, push rec again to stop the recording.

it's the same principle than midi learn, but with the pc keyboard. you can assign some control command from your pc keyboard.

hope it help.

dont hesitate to ask clarifications. :)

...and also remember that the Key Learn has an option in the setup to only be active when a track is selected. That only applies to modules in patches within tracks/channels of course, not the global commands.

Hi , thank you to all of you for your answers
@ martignasse very fine the screenshot the best explanation , for the key learn I really do not understand what's the
use of that when I click on the keylearn it opens a window full of text and I do not know what it is meaning
so I think I am going to wait until the next meeting organized by Olivier (I miss the first) to have explanation in french
more simple for me
thank you once again for your answers
have a good evening and night too

I suppose you speak about the 'Global midi & key learn' line of the 'setup' menu ?

It's a panel where you can map to midi or to keyboard all controls of the Usine interface.

another use of the key learn is to map your own controls.

here a simple example to let you understand the concept, imagine you have a switch in your patch, and want to assign it to a key of your keyboard.
right click on the switch to bring the contextual menu :

choose 'Key Learn' and just after, push the key you want to assign to.
you'll notice a little yellow square on top right of the switch meanning it has a key assigned.
now, if you push the key, the switch follow.

midi learn is the same, but with midi controllers

hope it help
