"This guy modified his Behringer controller. He tore out the Behringer controls and put them over a LCD screen. Real hardware controllers over the LCD screen with a glass plate."

nothing that would not have been around since a few years tho:
studer vista series:

however, I think hw controllers mounted on LCD screens precisely are the future of midi controllers.
at least I hope for it..
it looks sooo tasty :P

impressive, I hade the same idea of real pots with lcd, really cool! we ll do the same with V5!

my BCF is already open so I think im gonna try to have only a hardware 8 pots bar sitting bellow a touch screen that will update parameters just above, globally thought about doing the same but not in the midlle of screen, outside in the bellow edges..or more,
imagine all hardware surounding the screen.. with still a visual update on the edges of lcd.

I think so that it should be the future, hardware still have a better touch feel, but better have a screen to display that tons of rgb leds..
kind of transparent mawzer modular midi grid would be awesome, also I would still prefer an outside of the screen setup..

Not really a comparison at all but the functionality is similar, the first thing I built with Bidule is an interface that mirrors both my Behringer controllers and updates all the current values and controller destination names on screen as I switch through channels, load a song or adjust controllers on device. As it was my first project it still needs a complete rework ...

I suppose as an alternative to drilling holes in glass for the real thing, the knobs could be mounted on brackets just above the screen.
hmmm..

I found something similar some month ago:
A system to mount hardware controls via magneticy on an lcd.
But its just a patent waiting to someone to produce it..

it is called sensesurface (but got nothing to do with olivier i guess ;-D )

no...
maybe he could have saved a lot of time :)

list of ingredients:
dragon midi controller guy wrote:first computer:
cubase
dll 1
dll 2
generic midi controller (to receive the touchscreen software "buttons" at the right of the touchscreen)
A router program
a program to control the screen under the bcr 2000 enconders

on the second computer:
touchscreen
the same program does 4 things
1) create the touchscreen interface
2) a program to receive and send midi data to the bcr 2000
3) receive keyboard (hacked) data from the buttons of the keyboard hack.
4) a tcp/ip server - to comunicate with the other computer

usine could take care of most points here?
seems that communication with yamaha mixing console and cubase propietary host control was very hard.

won't this thing break apart the first time you take it on the road? the hardest is a nice housing for the mounted knobs?

And i'm just curious to know who (and how many people) could be interested to buy a new hardware device of this kind

i mean, i'm thinking about possibility to construct and sell stuff like that (i have electronic and dev knowledge to).
