Self-explanatory...
It could be a cool contribution.
but actually, the hard part is not the translation itself but the maintenance, and for this point I don't know how to proceed.
For me the best solution could be to create a Wiki with for example http://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki
- install the wiki engine on the site
- starts by add the actual English manual
- add basic topics like a FAQ, a "How to", etc.
- start the translation, slowly...
