hello,
i have followed the advice from nay seven to throw away Ableton Live in the recycle bin and keeping Usine in the Main Role. That decision is a mature one and at the same time many question need to be asked So here 's the first one:
When i'm dragging a midi file in a sequencer track, i don't only have a midi file but a sampler as well.
Is it possible to create an insert patch with a synth in order to read different midi files on the same track ?
Another question : in the sequencer mode i put some markers in order to have four differents loops and and i'm using the arrow in the dash board in order to change loops, this is working fine but when i want to move from loops 4 to loop 3,the cursor stayed blocked on the last loop, if i want to go backward i have to stop the sequencer???
thank u!!!

Regarding your first question, you should be able to use the Send to/Get from MIDI Bus modules to send the data from the sequencer patches to a VSTi located in some other patch. Just remember to name them if you need more than one set of busses.
Don't have time to look into your other question now, anyone else has a solution?

thank u for yr quick answer!! i think that the manual confused me because it said that Usine's sequencer is like a classical sequencer and a patch sequencer. I didn't find the first possibility ! A classic sequencer for me, is when u place a simple midi file, on a track and it's read by a single Vst instrument. In Usine for every different midi loops u need to have as many different instance of VST instrument because the instrument is within the midi loop and there 's no other way to just have a simple midi file running in the sequencer ? . I'm facing that problem because i wanted to only use the sequencer mode to structure my songs.
Am i wrong ?

If you just put the patch with the VSTi in the insert patch (or in the grid for that matter), you can operate Usine's sequencer the way you describe. Remember that you can also edit the template used when creating the MIDI patches; look in the FilesTemplates folder. There's a sub-folder called Sequencer Files containing (surprise, surprise!) the templates used when creating sequencer patches for MIDI or audio files. Just remember to back them up if you're in the habit of installing new versions of Usine over the existing.

Thanks for that tip, i was trying something else but i will try yr way later, so what i did :
- an insert patch with the vsi with "get from midi bus"
- on the same track a midi file with a "send to midi bus" module
it's working fine, but it's just one pattern running, so i copied that patch and connect a user curve to the 'file num" inlet in order to select the second loop present in the piano roll and i get a message error "Interanl in BufferSwitch Time info"
What's wrong there ?

This is a case for the boss himself, but you could try to restart Usine and see if that helps.

So i have solved the error problem downloading the last version.
So i reproduce the same patch, i got now no error message but the user curve has no effect on the "num file" of the piano rolli can see no change ? Can the user curve has an influence on the "num file" in order to simply change the loop in the piano roll ?

Finally it's working, i was focused on the graphic information and in fact graphicly it stay the same (any chance to have that bug fixed ?) but the loop changed ( i have to precise that i'm working with no sound out because i'm in my office

So great it's working the way i wanted!! thank u Bsork for yr help and patience

Hi noise2sine,
You could connect one of the list box to the num file inlet of the piano roll. It should work...

hello Ethnix 73,
Yes i will try yr suggestion too, it's very good to have different choice than being stuck!!!
Thanks again

Yes it 's working but not the way i want!! first:
1) is it normal that the user curves don't work on the Num file of the piano roll ? (because it's the easiest way!!!)
2) ethnix advice don't really answer my need

because i wanted to change the different midi loops in the piano roll according some defined bars position and the list box is supposed to be controlled by the conductor that mean that i have to activitate it and i don't want that, i would prefer automating that section
3) i'm giving an example : in the same piano roll : bar 1 to 8 midi loop 1 ; bar 9 to 17 midi loop 2
any solution ??

It's strange because User curves to change Num file is working here...

thank u for this information!!!
so maybe it's a bug, i will try again

in seq mode there are the 'continue' '<|' and '|>' controls. pressing '<|' returns to the last loop. further you can access the loop markers directly...
a problem I had and indicated once: if you set one of the seq controls quantize to cycle or bar, usine does sometimes not respond, and it hangs on the 'quantizing' message screen until you remove the quantization limitation.

exactly amiga909, without quantization on these knobs i can move forward and backward with no problems!!!
Cheers!!

ok, so i'm using the last version of Usine, the Pro version :
on track 1, i have a vsti as an insert patch with a "receive from midi bus" . On the sequencer i have a patch made only with a piano roll and a "send to midi bus " So at that point it's working. As soon as i create a User curve on the piano roll "num file" it's the begining of the end!!!

i'm making a 8 bars loop, the first four bars : midi loop Number 1 and midi loop 2 for bars 5 to 9 . When i 'm pressing play :
- i have weird sound (like something broken)
- i don't see the loop changing in the piano it's stay frozen on the first loop, not respecting the user curves indication
- the sequencer is not accurate on the beat .
When i delete the user curve i can hear sound and everything is working ???
I tried to use the seq midi module and i can see the loop responding to the user curves but when the loop is changing i'm losing sound, and when it start again on the first loop, i can hear sound and no sound the second loop.
So when u tell me it's working for u ? is yr configuration different from mine ? because i tested it on the sequencer mode and maybe u tested in the grid mode ???

I have tried your patch but I cant reproduce the behavior you describe, on the 3.68f or the new 4.0.
(a piano roll in the sequencer --> midi bus and midi bus ----> vsti)
But some vst can have unusual responses to CC did you try to use a midi filter to bloc the CC before the vsti?

thanks Senso for yr attention ,
well the problem seems to be the user curves. if for example i choose user curve value 1 for loop 1 and user curve value 2 for loop 2. i can notice that in the piano roll for the first case it's fine and as soon as the value change to 2 the red (tete de lecture) in the piano roll is going beserk and loosing sound and when is moving to value 1it's working, the sound is back and fine !!!!!!
i'm lost and with a performance in 3 days

I did more testing :
i plugged a simple list box to the num file inlet of the piano roll and i have no trouble for changing loops manually. if i plug a user curve to that list box, the first value is working and only the first, the second value change the loop number but produce no sound!!!!!
i start thinking that User curves are related to the Twilight Zone !!

Actually the user curve module sends always float numbers even if the precision curve is set to 'integer'.
It's a small bug (solved in the the 4.0)
You can solve it easily with insert a 'Math/Round' between the 'UserCurve' module and the 'PianoRoll'.

thank u so much for yr help!!! (my girlfriend is happy too, i stopped walking all around the house, talking alone
