Does Lilypond have midi output ?
Yes, you can convert the result to a MIDI file:

PWGL

Bit more than just a notation program.
Have to test it though...

Does anybody know a notation software that:

1) Is low-price/free
2) Handles polymetric notation
3) Can notate multiple tempi on parallel staves
4) Option to omit time signature and bar lines
5) Tuplets such as 4:3 and 8:6
6) Has MIDI output

?

So far I've found out these:

LilyPond - the closest notation output-wise, best engraving output, but is difficult to use:
http://lilypond.org/web/index

LilyPondTool - can be of help to input LilyPond syntax:
http://lilypondtool.organum.hu/85.0.... ... kPid%5D=84

Denemo - GUI for LilyPond, sort of:
http://www.denemo.org/?q=node/3

Canorus - quite raw at this stage, but developing:
https://canorus.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

MuseScore - doesn't have the polymetric features that I'm after, but has the most mature interface:
http://mscore.sourceforge.net/en/idx.php

MagicScore - about same description as the previous:
http://www.musicaleditor.com/

So, how do you this kind of notation, that can be consitered as "contemporary"?
Is the parchment the only way? :)
