- Add a preset manager to your Xgear patch - choose a preset you like in Xgear - In the preset manager click the 'S' Button and and number '0' to store the preset - choose a second preset in XGear - In the preset manager click the 'S' Button and and number '1' to store the preset
Now you´ve got two presets stored. They should be available when you click the numbers with the mouse...
In the preset manager now: - hold 'ctrl' on the keyboard and leftclick (and hold) on the dot that belongs to 'recall0' - move the mouse left and let the mousebutton loose and a new element 'button' appears
- do the same thing for 'recall1'
Now do a 'midi learn' on the two new buttons. Assign a switch from the FCB1010 for each of them.
Done. Now you can switch between the two presets by pressing their corresponding footswitches.
You can do this for the other slots of the preset manager, too.

Now, is there any chance one (or more!) of you could do a step by step walkthough on setting up a preset manager manager to allow a midi footswitch to control XGear? Usine is still new to me and VERY confusing! Would love to hear more details on nay-seven's alternative too!

Just add a 'Preset Manager' (Modules -> Interface Control) to the XGear patch. You don´t have to connect it. Now it´s possible to choose a preset in XGear, and store it in usines preset manager.
So we can at least store eight different presets and recall them directly with usine!

It lets me insert XGear on an audio track as I normally would but then it lets me add a midi track that I can assign to XGear's midi in (it seems like it's doing what Usine does and exposes the midi in). Then I choose a bank and patch on my footswitch and XGear patch switches to "Choose a preset..." and I do just that from within XGear. If I do that for 3 or 4 patches on the footswitch they all remember their settings!
I was SO hoping Usine worked the same way so I wouldn't have to go through Sonar and risk having the audio engine stop running in the middle of a live performance!

When you open the VST, in the top area there are two buttons 'Automation' and 'Midi'. When you press the midi button, it´s possible to assign the program changes for 'next' and 'previous' program to XGear. This works for me.
I haven´t found a way to choose a preset directly, though. I guess IK wants to make some money with the Stomp IO...

I've got it configured similar to how your screenshot is, from the midi out of my midi device to the midi in on the XGear module. If I click the connection between the two I can see the program change and CC info coming across in real time as I press my footswitch but XGear doesn't react to any of it? It's all coming across on midi channel 1.

Yesterday I tried to setup my new FCB1010 with Amplitube XGear and some "Bar recorders" from usine and it took me some time to get it running. The day before I already made a similar patch with fixed bar recorders, which worked flawlessly.
Unfortunately Amplitube XGear only listens to channel one. Stupid piece of software.
If you don´t want to configure the fcb to channel one, there is a solution in usine: use a midi transformer in between the midi-input and amplitube xgear and change the channel to whatever you want there. Works great.
The third problem: the bar recorder patch uses a switch to start the synchronized recording. I did not manage to assign this by midi learn to one of the switches on the footcontroller (don´t know why, I guess the triggered event is too short). Instead it´s possible to use a button and a toggle as input of the switch in the bar recorder patch. The button will work with the midi learn function and so it´s possible to start and stop the recording with the FCB 1010.
I hope this will help someone in this world to get started.
