I had an idea last night while playing with a looper patch i'm working on. i use the master sync and local sync modules in parrallel, the master feeds the tempo into the local module, with an On Activation module connected to the reset of the local sync, and finally I have the the cycle start of the local module going into the play button of a sampler (which is set to sync mode play button obviously). This allows me to keep the tempo but choose a larger or smaller cycle length (ie loop length) for looping. I was thinking this whole thing could be simplified if the local sync module had a button like 'sync with main tempo' on it, to retain the master tempo and also to keep it in sync without having to reset. I know this probably defeats the purpose of having a local sync module but it would allow the master cycle to be set to say, 8 bars, and you can use 2, 3, 4, 5 etc bar length loops and keep them in sync without being constrained to the master cycle length.

of course I could save you a bit of time and work by just using my two sync modules method on all my workspaces....

thanks

It would be nice to set a cycle length of say, 16 bars, and then have switching options and sampler sync modes as bar increments so that loops of different lengths can be used and they will all stay in sync. at the moment if i have the sync modes on a sampler module set to 'loop' then the timing can sometimes drift out, again, normally when choosing a new conductor snapshot.

Also, it would be handy for switch quantising as at the moment you're constrained to either one cycle or one bar. this is fine for cycles that are quite short, but if you want long cycle lengths you either have to activate a switch within a bar, or wait until the end of a cycle.

However, as i've only been using usine (every day!!!) for the last three motnhs i may be missing something that i'm doing wrong.

Thanks very much!!

Kevin
