Yes, I really like that feature, however I'm just beginning to scratch the surface..The main force of Usine is that you can display, on the screen, exactly what you want to display: make you personal interface.
Also, take a look on analysis modules, audio routings, midi routings, vst chaining, surround, etc..
Another reason to buy the full version (soon), I hesitated, because my sound card, firewire m-audio solo has only 4 in/out...About you Midi question: the Usine free is limited to 1 midi in/out. and the pro has no limitation.
That's why you can't open 2 devices at the same time in your version.
