BTW, I am really enjoying HH3. I used HH2 somewhat, but I am developing a live show and am planning to use HH3 as my foundation. I am a relative newbie to electronic music generally and will probably be asking a lot of basic questions as time goes on. I really appreciate the prompt and friendly help!

Could you create a Patch Post for this and copy and paste your problem. Afterwards you could delete your post from Lytz conversation.
I will do the same, this way we can archive the issue better, and clean up Lytz's post.
The problem is most likely that the Groove Sequencer does not produce a Note Off Message.
I can reproduce with Battery and the assumption is that battery is overloading it. It looks like the CPU rises over time...and can over-cpu.
Battery probably is just not handling the Note On Only....
In this case sometimes you get really stuck at high CPU, you can do a MIDI Panic and get to clear out and run better again.
I'd suggest just create a patch after the Sequencer. Add a MIDI Transformer, patch MIDI in and MIDI out. Then put a knob on the Length.
This will produce a MIDI Off corresponding to the MIDI In received at the gate length specified.
This so far looks to fix the problem.
I've used Battery quite a bit over the last year and have not any issues, same goes with the Groove Sequencer....however I have used the internal Drum Banks more or Polyplex with this.
I'm testing it out right now for you. So far it looks to be stable...I will update here in a while after I give it some time.
So far on my end it looks good. Around 18-21 percent on a single thread, single track with another blank audio track and a few other misc devices open.
It will fluctuate about 3-4% at least from what it looks like.
Also be careful, I believe you can overload battery quite easy with really short gate times, so I'd suggest not going too low, maybe changing your minimum range so you limit yourself.
