Hi decrepitude,

the easiest way is to create a fader by ctrl-dragging from the num file inlet of the piano roll and then use midi learn on the fader and send the CC of your choice.

If you want something like switching back and forth with note-ons, it's a little more complicated. Please ask if you need something else than the fader/CC solution, and I'm sure we can cook up a simple solution.

- pianoroll midi patterns are saved automatically, and you can have 8 different pattern on each.

OK, so I downloaded the free version and it looks very intriguing!

But one more question - How can you switch between the 8 patterns with midi control? I really don't want to touch the keypad on the laptop.

yes by default

- pianoroll midi patterns are saved automatically, and you can have 8 different pattern on each.
- sound (waves) aren't stored in the patch but you can create a 'save as random name' button that save the file in real time. then make a midi learn on this button do do it quickly on stage.
- you also have presets on each patch and global presets in the conductor

try the free version!

Yes, complex things I can't do with Live is why I'm exploring Usine. But can you confirm - is it possible to save patterns while performing so that you can later return to those newly created patterns during the same performance?

I agree with Martignasse.
I complete only on one point. If you want make 'basics' things like just record midi, simple sampling, Live is probably more efficient.
But if you are tired of that, and you want to explore more complex and personal things Usine is a good choice.
Just limited by you imagination... You can be surprise that your's has no limit...

hello decrepitude,

and welcome to usine forums.

From what you said, if it mean having a couple of samplers and a piano roll plugged to some VST. And be able to control that in real time.

I say a big YES, usine is made for that...
and much much more.

have you try differents demo projects of the the free usine version ?
It should answer you'r question.

Hello all,

I am a LivePA artist who currently uses Ableton Live and Energy XT for live improvised dance music. I'm very intrigued about the possibilties of Usine.

Before I dive straight in, can you tell me if USine would be good for this:

I want to start with no pre sequenced material - I want to record and build it all on the fly - Midi and Audio. I simply want to have some VST instruments on tracks ready for recording midi and also live audio looping using my voice. I'll also be using an Axiom 25-key controller and a Faderfox LV2 (pretty much made for Ableton Live but can be adapted to pretty much anything.) It's very important that I'm able to save patterns/sequences as I'm performing so I can toggle them again later.

Can I do this with Usine?
