I'm also looking for a sampler that instead of the audio records the midi data, because I make finger drumming and it redundant recording audio instead of the midi from my akai. Is it present in Usine?

of course I put some elements of incertainty as straigth repetition and perfect sync is only for military purpose.

Thanks Oli, sub patch sounds like a great idea, HH is still a big mystery for me but definitely looks incredible powerful. I am looking for exactly what Shintylla described since I am importing my stems from Ableton and some of them are needed to be starting and stopping at precise times or triggered.

I know what I am looking for sounds very close to what the clip view of Ableton is, but the for me the linear grid of HH and the device view is much more interesting.
Same

But you need to dig into it to make it do what you want. This way you can be really creative instead of walking into someone else footpaths as with some other DAW.

I am not into sync thing, but I'll try to find some time to do a exemple patch for you, soonish.

cheers

for exemple if you recorded 4 bars of 4 quater notes and want to listen to last bar, you set the start pos to 3/4
to listen from second beat : 2/16

you can also play the sample in single shot and retrig it each measure (for exemple) so it stay in sync.

If yer the grid is not specifically built for that purpose (altought I'd really wish so I could use it for live looping purposes) but however you can do what you want.
The simplest way is to cut the song part within ableton and export them, then within hollyhock create as many racks as you're parts are and put a player or a sampler into a patch on every rack, then load one file on every player/sampler. Place the racks within the grid and set play-stop-loop for each section of the grid(taht correspond to a single rack where is loaded a part of your song) as you wish.
I hope to asnwered correctly to you.
Have a nice day

I tend to produce all my stuff in Ableton and would like to then transfer my stems to the Grid of Usine Hollyhock. The first problem I encounter is how to go about organising a long stem in sections, I would like for example to divid my long stem in Intro, Verse etc.... but I can't find a way to cut it properly, is that something that has to be done beforehand and can't be done inside the program?

Cheers!
