With some of the programs of the the RC8 version I can get some buttons to light up, but no MIDI out, so yes - it seems that the old version on gersic.com is working better.

I rebooted my work machine, but still Usine is still hanging once I put in a module, so I guess maybe Monochrome isn't to blame - something else has gone wrong. Maybe I have to reinstall Asio4All? Later...

Monochrome is a quite cool concept, but similar stuff can easily be created with the eg the Data/Step and/or Data/Switch modules, although having 64 of them would be one messy patch! (A bit off topic, but a nice little extra when using the Switch is connecting the next step and trigger outlets to an XOR module to get "inverted" triggers, ie a trigger when the switch is not lit.)

PS. Now Usine doesn't work at all on my work machine, so I don't know whether Monochrome is to blame or if there's something else wrong. I'll report back when I have more time.

thanks for joining in on solving the mystery.
which link did you use on that page you mentioned. The devince-machine link doesn't work for me.
Anyhow, that seems to be a very old version. The newest can be found following the link towards the top of this thread:
http://forum.monome.org/topic/737

bsork, nay-seven, see if you can try with the new one too.
but im also interested in whatever versions you have - if you have similar problems with the new one. if not, it's just me.

thanks guys

I didn't get it to do anything at first either, but that was probably because I was programming and triggering different buttons...

I also expected something to happen when using some other mode than SEQ, but no. Since the other modes aren't mentioned (eg in http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2441892), maybe the other modes don't work without a proper Monomone/OSC setup?

BTW, I haven't seen a trace of any readme file, so I don't know which version I've tried. I used the link above, though.

it's in the readme file that came with the package. my readme file is titled MonoChrome(rc8)-README. The readme file also has the version history. I don't know if you can see it elsewhere.
I guess OSC has nothing to do with this if I don't own/use a monome?

can't seem to get it to do anything.
ive got monochrome receiving midi from my midi-keyboard and sending midi to a vsti. it doesn't seem to send any midi with any preset.
could you - or someone - give me a quick run-down on what i might be doing wrong?
i'm excited to get this one working...

thanks a million

" Experimental MIDI note sequencer VSTi.

-insert on a MIDI track, route MIDI notes to another VSTi
-alt-click on (Mode:) "Normal" and set to SEQ (so all 64 pads trigger independent note-out sequences, vertical = velocity on the GUI sequencer)
-send MIDI notes to MonoChrome from your MIDI controller. The MIDI note you send (MIDI note 36-99) will toggle the corresponding sequence of MIDI notes at the assigned MIDI note#. Send the same note again to stop the sequence.

allows for some pretty intense polyrhytm stuff if you set different SEQ lengths!"
