It would be nice if usine compensated for this automatically on input.... all my other hosts do, AFAIK.
Yeah!, I agree.
It should be either in realtime or when importing a midi file into a pianoroll.

Hmmm, I think I found the origin of the problem!
Many programs and old midi controllers used to write the midi files WITHOUT the NOTE OFF messages, instead using a NOTE ON with a value of ZERO.

Is something like a compability compromise with old hardware.
In usine, this kind of file format causes the ignoring of the original lenght of the note.

i opend another midi file from my collection (comercial product) direct into usine: works.

same file opened in nuendo and exported (as format 0 and 1 ): in usine both are broken, in nuendo reopened both are correct ... :P

so it seems to be something with nuendo (and reaper)

btw, I uploaded a little midi test file into a zip file.
is a one track midi file and owns the strange behaviour noted in usine.

in the uploader, it looks like a zero kb file but is not, its about 256 bytes long :)

when i look at the midifile in my nuendo2, the notes have different length, everything looks ok. if i import the same file in pianoroll, all notes have the same length (1/32) ... ???

no quantisation on, not in nuendo, not in the piano roll.

i did some tests with different midi files, and always the same.

any ideas someone? :)
