Ethernet drivers : ON because i'm using an external OSC remote.
Windows configuration:
NVIDIA Full Hardware acceleration NVIDIA powermizer: OFF NVIDIA Write combining: OFF 16 bit color disable screen saver
Keyboard manager.exe (Kbmanager.exe:) disable
I also did this: Use the command : diskperf -n ( good for Direct to disk) Disable the option index disk option in windows.

The road to success was a windy one though and took a lot of work. I have no experience with SP3 because I don't want to fix something that isn't broken (anymore).
The main thing to point out from my post is the usefulness of DPC Latency Checker - a free utility that was very helpful in seeing whether any step taken was towards the better or worse.
As I wrote in my post I did try out updating drivers for hardware but I don't think it carried major importance. The main advances came from complete disabling of all hardware acceleration and other specialities of the graphics card (nvidia), complete disabling of the wlan and bluetooth (anything with an antenna) and killing all but the most essential system processes and startup items (i think i unchecked every single startup item). Anyways the DPC latency tool was very useful.
Please let us know how it goes. Will be glad to help out more if only I can.

Dont forget to istall patch for firewire 1394, search on the net, it is necessary for fire wire audio cards. Use the command : diskperf -n ( good for Direct to disk) Disable the option index disk option in windows.

I just install the XP.SP2 I'm not sure that the SP3 is a good way for audio, all the computer I have use SP2 (Pyramix at home, in my studio another Pyramix...) and always SP2 without any problem. When the SP3 arrived, I wanted to install it, but the improvment were more for the net services. And it have a lot of bug. For Usine on the MacBook, I make a Hard Disk Partition, NTFS formated (not Fat32), Windows XP.SP2, the MOTU 828Mk2 drivers, an ASIO4ALL for working without the MOTU (that's not working fine). I diseabled internet (I use it with the Mac) put a WaveLab for editing samples, and that's all. Just MacDrive to communicate with the Mac. And it works very fine.
What kind of problems do you have?
Sylvain
